1765 On 11 Feb 1765, John Woodard of St. Mary's Parish {Edgecombe County, NC} will contents. To wife Margreat Woodard - lend the use of my plantation where I now live and Negroes Cip and Sam, for her widowhood, and then the plantation and Sam are to fall to my son Elisha Woodard. To son John Woodward - reversion of Negro Cip. To daughter Mary Lee - Negro Lucy and lend her the use of Negro Hanner for her lifetime, and then Margret Brown (daughter of said Mary Lee) shall have Hanner. To Leonard Langston and Ann {Woodard Langston} his wife - lend the use of Negroes Beck and Sam for their lifetime and then to be divided between my granddaughters Sarah Langston and Elisabeth Langston. To James Holland and Sarah his wife - lend the use of Negro Rose for their lifetime and then to fall to my grandson John Holland. To son Thomas Woodard - horse and five pounds.
