1757 John Doyle of Edge. Co. Near Coneto [deeded] to [son] John Doyle of Edge. Co. my namesake on 9 Aug 1757 for 20 pounds current money of Va. 320 acres some in Edgecombe Co. And some in Beaufort Co. And is all of John Doyle's land on the east side of Live Oak Swamp and is part of 640 acres granted 7 June 1739 all houses, out houses, etc. Wit: John Averitt, Joseph Bradley, Richard Bolton. ( ECNC. 1765 On 11 Feb 1765, John Woodard of St. Mary's Parish {Edgecombe County, NC} will contents. To wife Margreat Woodard - lend the use of my plantation where I now live and Negroes Cip and Sam, for her widowhood, and then the plantation and Sam are to fall to my son Elisha Woodard. To son John Woodward - reversion of Negro Cip. To daughter Mary Lee - Negro Lucy and lend her the use of Negro Hanner for her lifetime, and then Margret Brown (daughter of said Mary Lee) shall have Hanner. To Leonard Langston and Ann {Woodard Langston} his wife - lend the use of Negroes Beck and Sam for their lifetime and then to be divided between my granddaughters Sarah Langston and Elisabeth Langston. To James Holland and Sarah his wife - lend the use of Negro Rose for their lifetime and then to fall to my grandson John Holland. To son Thomas Woodard - horse and five pounds. Residue of my estate to my wife for her widowhood and then to be divided among my six children before mentioned. Executor of estate: son Thomas Woodard. 1780 On 8 August 1780 Leonard Langston prepared will naming three grandchildren (Isaac Langston, Luke Bolton, and Elizabeth Bolton) as heirs. He leaves his pine woods Plantaton to {grandson} Lewis Bandy (son of daughter Elizabeth Langston Bandy) (ECNC November 1780 Court).
